We camped at Campsite nr 2. Although we had a booking with Squamater, that was in fact confirmed. On arrival they didn’t have a campsite for us. Despite the fact that the management is not the best. A friendly couple from the Nederlands offer to share their campsite with us, as the campsites are spacious. We enjoyed a nice evening with them around the Campfire.
Unfortunately, this is most certainly poorest campsite on our trip. The camp is not well maintained, and as I have noticed, the ablution is not serviced consequently, as a result of poor management.
In any case, the campsites are lovely and spacious and situated under nice, big leadwood trees. In short,we enjoyed they tranquility on the marshy floodplains. We spent two nights at Xwabaxwa Campsite and basically didn’t see any wildlife at the campground. We took game drives near the Khwai Village and saw some wildlife over there.
Lastly, this is a nice stay over. All things considered I wouldn’t recommend this campsite for a long stay. Whether we will ever stay at Xwabaxwa Campsite again or not, we don’t know.
Khwai Hippo Pool Campsite, Khwai, Moremi, Botswana
As we only camped 1 night at Khwai Hippo Pool Camp we have tried to get the most of it. This is one of the best Campsites around Khwai. The staff is friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay at this Campsite.
A late afternoon boat trip is recommended, as we and the kids enjoyed the boat trip. The relaxing and calming feeling of the boat cruising on the river, is something not to be missed.
At first, we felt anxious to get so near the Hippo’s, but after a while we realized that the driver new what he was doing and that made us feel save.
